'Pants in the Park' for Church House team!

On Sunday 21st June, a team from Church House Conference Centre took part in a charity walk in Battersea Park.

'Pants in the Park', organised by Prostrate UK is a family fun run, jog or walk which aims to raise vital awareness and funds in the fight against all prostrate diseases.

Lead by Events Coordinator, Becky Way, the team of nine undertook the five kilometre walk in fancy dress pants worn on the outside of their clothes at what can only be described as a leisurely pace. Full of energy and enthusiasm, they all enjoyed a celebratory picnic in the park afterwards.

As well a being a fun day for the Church House team, it was all for a good cause and they have proudly placed a cheque for Prostrate UK in the post.

Prostrate disease affects one in two men at some stage of their life. Prostrate cancer is the most common cancer in men affecting 35,000 annually with 10,000 loosing their life to it a year.

Lowest parking rates in Westminster!

Going by its motto, making life easy for you, The Royal Horticultural Halls (RHH) has negotiated the lowest parking rates in Westminster, so visitors and clients can now park their cars for just £12 per day (24 hours) – that's an incredible 50 pence an hour!

Maugie Lyons at the RHH says: "We understand that whether you're attending an event, exhibiting or supplying materials, shelling out the pounds for parking can be a nightmare. So in our bid to make every event at the Halls run as smoothly as possible, we have agreed this excellent rate with APCOA."

And the good news doesn't stop there! Leith's at the Royal Horticultural Halls has just been awarded a maximum five star Scores on the Doors rating for their high standards of food safety management and full compliance with food safety legislation by Westminster City Council.

Let the Halls help your event run smoothly – book now for a truly original space and great value for money in the heart of Westminster. For more information, call us on 0845 370 4606 or visit

Bring Music to your meetings at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)

The RIBA is the first venue to offer delegates the chance to make music in their meetings. We have teamed up with 'Music in Offices' allowing delegates to enjoy singing and drumming workshops as a great teambuilding activity.

Both workshops provide delegates with a fun way to develop communication skills through voice or by instrument. The sessions begin with ice breaking exercises to help the delegates feel at ease and progress to a stage where the whole group is working together in harmony - giving them a sense of team spirit. Both workshops can be tailor-made to suit the needs of the organiser.

Drumming workshops offer everyone in the session a chance to make music together using the most accessible and non-threatening instrument of all - the drum, and everyone gets one! This particular workshop includes team-building games, which culminates in a group performance of a piece of music, which the group has composed themselves during the session.

The typical singing workshop is a fun one and half hour session with a vocal coach. It gives delegates the opportunity to learn how to use their voices and control their breath using professional singing techniques which can be applied to help them combat nerves under pressurised situations in the work place.

These music workshops will be available to delegates booking meetings in their: Lutyens Room, Aston Webb Room, Wren Room and Jarvis Suite so as not to interfere with other meetings taking place at the same time. Music sessions start from £350 (plus room hire costs). Should you require a longer session please ask one of the RIBA team for further details.

To book please contact the RIBA Venues Team on: 020 7307 3888 or e-mail venues@inst.riba.org . Alternatively please visit: www.ribavenues.com

Glamour Magazine – RSA House London Venue voted 'Best Boss'

Royal Society of Arts has recently been rated as one of the top places to work in the June 09 issue of Glamour Magazine.

The Glamour magazine "UK BEST BOSSES" article positions us in fine company and has placed this 'best kept secret' exclusive London venue firming into the lime light.

"No longer a men's club (Karl Marx and Charles Dickens used to be members), today, the management team that dreams up free public events is three-quarters female. It's a good thing too: as a listed building and popular wedding venue, the stunning London HQ is too gorgeous to be wasted on boys"

Well we do welcome boys the House but we are delighted that the people at Glamour classes the RSA among organisations like Harrods, Levi and the BBC.

This is a great opportunity to tell you a little more about what goes on under the RSA House roof.

Getting married at the RSA won't cost the earth

The RSA, one of the foremost 'think and do' tanks in the country is leading the way in social progress through ideas, innovation and change.

For those of you hoping to tread lightly down the aisle, we are offering a special Footprint Wedding Package to help you plan a more environmentally friendly wedding and reduce the carbon footprint of your special day.

We know that our couples would like to have a 'greener' wedding but don't know where to start. Most fear that it will be just too much work or cost the earth!

According to Climate Care, the average wedding emits around 14.5 tonnes of CO2, a staggering amount compared with the average of 12 tonnes emitted by the average person during an entire year.

This fantastic package has everything you need, from recycling to fair-trade wines and sustainably sourced ingredients, the RSA takes its ethical responsibilities very seriously.

Yalumba Wine Dinner

Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" - aboriginal for "all the land around". Here at The Cinnamon Club, we are proud to present our Yalumba Wine Dinner 2009 hosted by Jane Ferari on Friday 17th July. Enjoy 5 of Head Chef Hari Nagaraj's signature courses with matching wines from the Yalumba family for £75 per person with champagne and canapes on arrival.
